It’s a good idea to have multiple people with admin access of your Facebook Page and other Facebook assets. It’s really common for the person who set up the Facebook page to leave the company and take the access with it and if they left under bad terms this can be hard to resolve. Making sure you have multiple admins reduces this risk and ensures you don’t loose access to your important business assets or are held hostage over their ownership. If you don’t yet have a Facebook page for your business and need instructions on how to set one up for the first time then we have a video here.

In this article we outline instructions for how to add additional people as managers in some capacity to your Facebook Page. Doing it this way requires you to be Facebook friends with the person you want to add as an admin or editor of the Page. It is possible to add someone to your page without being friends with them on Facebook but you need to do that through Facebook Business Manager (now called Facebook Business Suite but they are the same thing!)

Remember too that you don’t need to give everyone full admin access to the page. Anyone with admin access has complete power to do whatever they like on the page including removing other admins, so bear that in mind when you’re thinking about who else might need admin access. If you have other people in the team who are responsible for adding content you don’t necessarily need to give them full admin access. Facebook offers a number of levels of access each of which comes with a different level of ‘power’.

If you don’t have a Facebook Business Manager account for your business it’s worth considering creating one at some point especially if you are planning to use Facebook for advertising and re-marketing in the future. It’s free and will allow you to manage all of your Facebook Assets in one place (Facebook Page, Instagram Account, Ads Account, Tracking Pixel etc) and without having to be “friends” with your colleagues. If you don’t want to set a Business Manager account up just yet – what we describe below is a quick way to add more people as managers of your FacebookLog into Facebook and open up your Facebook Page. This is under the Pages link on the left hand side on your home screen. Business Page.

I’m going to work through this showing you how to do this from a browser on your PC and then again going through the process from the Facebook app on your mobile phone.

Adding additional people to your Facebook page from a browser on your PC

You need to own or manage the Facebook Page in question. If you are not the owner then you need to ask the person who is to go through these steps. Make sure you are a Facebook friend with the person you want to add first. That means they will need to have a Facebook profile and account and be connected to you.

From your Facebook Page navigate to settings at the bottom of the list on the left.

From the Settings menu find the Page Roles option at the bottom of the list.

In Page Role choose “Assign a new Page role”.

Type in the name of the Facebook friend you want to add.

Choose the role you want to give them.

Then click Add.

This then sends an alert via Facebook to the person you are inviting to your Page – they will need to accept this invitation in order to complete the process.

Adding additional people to your Facebook page from the Facebook mobile app

You need to own or manage the Facebook Page in question. If you are not the owner then you need to ask the person who is to go through these steps. Make sure you are a Facebook friend with the person you want to add first. That means they will need to have a Facebook profile and account. Open the Facebook App on your phone and tap the 3 stripes on the top right of the app.

Navigate to the Facebook Pages you are part of.

Click and open your page. Once you are in the page find the Settings Cog at the top right of the page and click on it.

This will open the Settings menu.

Click on Page Roles. This will show you a list of who is currently assigned to the Page and in what capacity and will also give you the option to add a new person to the page.

Click on the Add Person to Page button. Facebook will prompt you to reenter your password for security purposes.

Type in the name of the person you want to add (who you are already Facebook friends with).

Select the Role you want to give this person.

Then click Add. This will send a request to the person you are inviting which they will have to accept in order to complete the process.
