Awesome Tech Training: WordPress, marketing and SEO training and help for small businesses

Sort out your website, start your marketing, or get found on Google. Start with a free hour with us.

We're Lorna, Steve and Rachel. We train small businesses to do their own WordPress, marketing and SEO, and we do the work for the ones who'd rather we did. Whichever you need, it starts with one of three free webinars, live every month with all three of us on the call.

The same three people, however much help you want

Everything we do sits somewhere between a free hour and us doing the whole thing for you. You can start anywhere on the line and move along it when you need to, and it's the same three of us at every point.

Learn to do it yourself

The three free webinars above, live every month. Then one hour £36 sessions where you do the work on your own site or your own business: planning a website, making sense of a WordPress site you've inherited, planning your marketing, finding out whether it's working, SEO in practice. Then half days online on Google Analytics and SEO, and a full day in a room with us on SEO and AI search.

Learn it with us

An hour of one to one with one of us, on your site, your numbers or your plan, by the hour when you need it. Training for your team, built around what your business does rather than a standard course. And everyone who buys a webinar can book a free half hour clinic with one of us.

We do it for you

WordPress sites built, from a simple brochure site for a few hundred pounds to complex installations wired into booking systems, shops and other software. Hosting and looking after the site once it's live. A health check on a site you've inherited or haven't touched in years. Google Analytics set up so it counts the things you care about. Google Ads set up and run. And for businesses that would rather hand the marketing over, we take it on, including white labelled for agencies.

It'll always be us

Our main business is training. That means we only take on the project work we can do ourselves, and never more of it than the three of us can resource. If we build your site, Steve builds it. If we set up your Analytics, one of us does it. If we take on your marketing, Lorna runs it. You won't be passed to an account manager, a junior or a subcontractor, because there aren't any. Several clients have told us that's why they stayed, and it's also why we'll sometimes say no to a piece of work: if we can't do it properly ourselves, we'd rather tell you than farm it out.

Awesome Tech Training is Rachel, Lorna and Steve. We're three friends who have worked together on and off for more than 25 years, each in a different part of digital marketing and web development, and in 2019 we set up Awesome Tech Training to do it together properly. Rachel is in the UK home counties. Lorna and Steve are near Dundalk in Ireland.

Lorna Walker

Lorna has worked in marketing for nearly thirty years, almost always as the only marketing person in the business or one of a team of two, across a range of industries, business to business and business to consumer. She knows what it's like to have very little time or money and very high expectations. She also spent ten years teaching marketing in universities, including setting up one of the UK's first Masters degrees in digital marketing. Lorna writes and presents most of the marketing webinars and runs the marketing for our own business and for clients who outsource theirs to us.

Steve Hanlon

Steve is a developer with more than twenty years of experience across many technologies, platforms and industries, not only WordPress. He builds the websites, makes the technology behind the marketing work, and can wrangle any code however complex. If a site has a booking system, a shop or something bespoke that nobody else understands, Steve is the one who works out what it does.

Rachel Clinton

Rachel has led sales and business development teams in companies from local family businesses to large multinationals, and has spent her career getting leads in for businesses and turning them into customers. She knows which parts of marketing produce work and which just look busy. Rachel is the person you'll speak to if you book a call.

Why we set it up

Over the past few years we've built a range of webinars and training courses based on our own experience of marketing, sales and web development in the real world. We've been at this for a long time, so we know what the pitfalls are, what goes wrong, what the most common problems are and how to address them, and we bring that into everything we do, whether it's a webinar for a hundred people or an afternoon fixing one site.

Who we work with

Mostly small businesses who can't justify outsourcing their whole marketing and want to be able to do it themselves, and marketing people in small teams who are expected to be across everything from the website to the email tool. Some of them go on to have us do the parts they don't want to do. Our training is designed to be affordable, practical and results oriented, so you can put what you've learned into practice straight away.

How we work

The three of us on this page are the three you'll see on any webinar you book. All three of us are on every one: one presents, the other two answer your questions as they come in, and we all stay on at the end. If you book training for your team, one of us delivers it. If you need a site built or your Analytics configured, one of us does it. We're hands on, we don't outsource, and we don't take on more than we can handle.

If you'd rather we did it

Some things are quicker for us to do than to teach, and some people would rather spend the time on their business. These are the things we're most often asked for.

Building a website

We build WordPress sites of every size. A simple site for a small business that explains what you do and gets people to get in touch costs a few hundred pounds. A site with a shop, a booking system or an integration with software you already use is quoted, and we'll tell you plainly if it's not a job for us. If you've been on our plan your website webinar, the worksheet you filled in is exactly what we'd ask for first.

Hosting and looking after it

We host sites and keep them updated and backed up, so there's someone to ring when something breaks. [Price] a month.

A health check on your site

For a site you've inherited, or built years ago and haven't touched: what it's made of, what's out of date, what's at risk and what to fix first, in a written report. £150 a quarter if you'd like us to keep checking.

Google Analytics and Google Ads

Analytics set up so it counts enquiries, bookings or sales rather than page views. Google Ads set up, or run for you, with the numbers reported in a way you can read.

Your marketing, done by us

For businesses and agencies that would rather hand it over: the plan, the routine and the doing, with the three of us on it and nobody else. Hand picked, because we only take on what we can resource.
